AMU, AGAIN

This post, for now, is just from Mai. I wanted to post this at once and am unable to get ahold of Suni and Maman (Vini),

DEAR BELOVED SANGAT JI,

This letter came to the Gurbani Learning Zone, a Yahoo! Group of which I am a member. Reading it, I ask myself, do we really want the world to know what happened to us in 1984, or do we want to just sit and whine amongst ourselves? I am sorry to sound harsh, but I am seriously annoyed. We need to get behind this movie and be heard!

Here is one simple, concrete, and, may I add, inexpensive, way to show support and get the word out. A ten dollar ticket? If every reader of this blog purchased just one,...but I have no idea how many read this blog, a few, at least.
It would be a drop in the proverbial bucket, but a drop is still a drop. Please help!!

Here is the letter:

Dear Sangat:

The film AMU needs our help. The community has not come out and shown its
support and the opening of AMU in other cities is in jeopardy.

A way to show your support - even if you are not in Manhattan.

Please go to the net to the Cinema Village link and buy a one 10 dollar
ticket to the film. Just one.

This would be your contribution in internationalizing the issue
of'84

The link is: http://www.readyticket.net/webticket/htmlshowtimes/27/ShowTimes39238.html

The success of AMU in NY affects the opening in the rest of the
US.

If you feel 1984s story needs to be heard and the silence to be broken
please buy 1 ticket and show your support.

This week in crucial - please show your support.

WE REMEMBER 1984 - MASSACRE BLUE STAR - 5 JUNE 1984

We move on now, to June 5, 1984, with more events and eyewitness accounts, including an interview with Pritam Kaur, wife of Sant Gianai Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale's P.A.

CHIMES of FREEDOM
by Bob Dylan
verse five
Even though a cloud's white curtain in a far-off corner flashed
An' the hypnotic splattered mist was slowly lifting
Electric light still struck like arrows, fired but for the ones
Condemned to drift or else be kept from drifting
Tolling for the searching ones, on their speechless, seeking trail
For the lonesome-hearted lovers with too personal a tale
An' for each unharmful, gentle soul misplaced inside a jail
An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.

MASSACRE BLUE STAR - JUNE 1984

We suggest you read the following article from ALL ABOUT SIKHS. (You might read some other articles on this site, too. In my opinion it's one of the best on the Net about Sikh concerns.)
And eyewitness accounts of 4 June.

CHIMES of FREEDOM
by Bob Dylan

verses three and four

Through the mad mystic hammering of the wild ripping hail
The sky cracked its poems in naked wonder
That the clinging of the church bells blew far into the breeze
Leaving only bells of lightning and its thunder
Striking for the gentle, striking for the kind
Striking for the guardians and protectors of the mind
An' the unpawned painter behind behind his rightful time
An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.

Through the wild cathedral evening the rain unraveled tales
For the disrobed faceless forms of no position
Tolling for the tongues with no place to bring their thoughts
All down in taken-for-granted situations
Tolling for the deaf an' blind, tolling for the mute
Tolling for the mistreated, mateless mother, the mistitled prostitute
For the misdemeanor outlaw, chased an' cheated by pursuit
An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.

WE REMEMBER 1984 - MASSACRE BLUE STAR

I TOOK THIS OFF OF SIKH SANGAT.

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!
Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!

A reminder to all that 23 years ago, the tyrant Indian regime attacked
Darbar Sahib Complex in the climax of their genocidal campaign against Sikhs.
The following message has been circulated on facebook, msn, etc. I thought it
would be worthwhile sharing it with those on Sikhsangat as well. I wanted to
also point out that we should take the effort to refer to this incident as
Massacre Bluestar rather Operation, this helps give a more accurate portrayal of
what actually occurred.

"Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa,
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Tomorrow is the
23rd anniversary of the attack on the Darbar Sahib by the
Indian
Government.

I ask everyone to take atleast 30 seconds out of your
life to
remember the
innocent victims of the attack and urge all my
brothers and
sisters to support
the victims by wearing either Kesri
(orange) paggs or
suits to the
Gurudwara.

Also, in
remembrance of the victims of
1984 everyone is requested to change
their
picture to the following for the
next three days. http://img505.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bluestar04copygw3.jpg

WaheguruJi Ka Khalsa,
Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh"

Lets take this opportunity to change our pictures as well on any online
accounts we have in effort to show a united stand against injustice and educate
those who are unaware of the events that occurred exactly 23 years ago.

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!
Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!

WE REMEMBER 1984 - OPERATION BLUE STAR - THE THIRD GHALUGHARA

BACKGROUND TO THE ATTACK. 1 2 3

CHIMES OF FREEDOM

by Bob Dylan

Far between sundown's finish an' midnight's broken toll

We ducked inside the doorway, thunder crashing

As majestic bells of bolts struck shadows in the sounds

Seeming to be the chimes of freedom flashing

Flashing for the warriors whose strength is not to fight*

Flashing for the refugees on the unarmed road of flight

An' for each an' ev'ry underdog soldier in the night

An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing

.In the city's melted furnace, unexpectedly we watched

With faces hidden while the walls were tightening

As the echo of the wedding bells before the blowin' rain

Dissolved into the bells of the lightning

Tolling for the rebel, tolling for the rake

Tolling for the luckless, the abandoned an' forsake

Tolling for the outcast, burnin' constantly at stake

An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing.

*I wanted to edit this line, but left it out of respect for the author.

Read it as "Whose strength is IN the fight"
